maximize the life of your hat
Whenever possible, it’s a good idea to keep a band block inside the band of your hat when you’re not wearing it. Available for purchase here.
When not wearing, if you don’t have a hat rack available, place it upside down on the crown. Laying it on the brim could result in loss of shape.
Don’t leave your hat in a hot environment like a vehicle or anywhere without a controlled climate. Heat will cause the sweatband to shrink.
If your hat gets wet you’ll want to let it air-dry using one of two methods:
Fold the sweatband down and set the hat on the flipped down sweatband in a safe location.
Keep wearing the hat until it dries completely - if possible, this is preferred and will essentially form the hat perfectly to your head.
DO NOT attempt to speed drying process with a hair dryer or anything else.
Use a hat brush to dust loose dirt off of your hat.
Clean dirt off with a damp cloth if necessary.
Use a lint brush or piece of tape to remove fuzz, hair and lint from your hat.
Try to avoid adjusting hat by the crown if you hope to keep the shape in tact. Remove and adjust your hat by the brim close to the crown.
Allow perspiration and oil to evaporate from the sweatband by flipping it down and setting hat in a safe place every once in a while. This helps keep it from soaking into the hat.
